Do you like to take pictures of wildlife, landscapes, plants and fungi, or people in nature? If you have answered "yes" to any of these categories, perhaps you should participate in Sugar Grove Nature Center's 2011 Nature Photography Contest! Sugar Grove Nature Center is pleased to announce that we are sponsoring a Nature Photography Contest that provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase your photographic talent as well as the natural beauty of central Illinois. The contest includes both an adult and youth (under 13 years) division. Categories within the adult division are the following: Wildlife (anything from insects to mammals, please no domesticated animals), Landscapes, Plants and Fungi (close-ups), People in Nature (written release required from people shown in the photograph.) There is only one category in the youth division, Nature, which includes wildlife, landscapes, plants and fungi, and people in nature. All photographs must be taken in McLean or the surrounding counties (see rules for county eligibility) in Illinois. Photos must be submitted to the Nature Center between--and including--the dates of September 15 to October 11, 2011 (Or postmarked by October 7th) Note: Submission date was extended from October 1. There will be a prize for the best photograph taken in Funks Grove, and prizes will be awarded for winners in each division and category. Photographs taken from January 1, 2010 through September 30, 2011 are eligible for submission. Prizes are scheduled to be announce by September 15, 2011. Winners will be publicly announced on October 22, 2011.
